For well over a century, Ford Motor Company has set standards for the truck industry. Around the world, Ford has earned a solid reputation for delivering the highest quality trucks whose durability consistently stands the tests of not only time, but also hard work..
For Ford, the slogan “Built Ford Tough” serves not just as a clever tag line. It also forms their unofficial mission statement. In the same way that a luxury car company would emphasise its style and fashionable appearance, Ford revels in its product line’s legendary reliability.
All of our available pre-owned trucks from Ford were specifically designed for the Australian environment. Their engineering enables their lines of robust vehicles to handle extremes of temperature and humidity, mountain roads, and lengthy travel in desert conditions.

Louisville/L 9000
The Ford Louisville serves as Ford’s flagship line in the 1990s and early 21st century. Its name derives from the Kentucky city where the trucks were manufactured. Though officially designated L 9000, the nickname Louisville quickly caught on. Ford built both power and versatility into this truck. It served as a powerful long-haul truck that could also handle PUP style configurations.
The Louisville boasted surprising agility for its time. This allowed it to provide excellent service in other applications. Construction companies use Louisville trucks for a number of different purposes. Including as waste disposal, haulage, and tippers. These vehicles also would work well for municipal service because of their well-designed turning radius.
Louisville/ L 9000 vehicles built for long haul service also featured a spacious cab and sleeping area as well for added comfort and convenience. Different forms of the truck could haul between 16,000 and 29,000 kilograms of materials.
The Aeromax version of the L 9000 offered enhanced aerodynamic performance over a number of other truck options at the time. These vehicles work equally well for short-range jobs. Count on their durability to provide powerful performance in a construction environment or short-range hauling.
Sterling
The Ford Sterling also served as one of the company’s most popular heavy-duty trucks sold in Australia and other countries around the globe. Over the years, it benefited from collaborations between Ford Motor Company and a number of partners in Japan and Europe.
Like the Louisville, the Sterling offers tremendous versatility. You can find Sterlings designed in a variety of configurations. These include tippers, waste haulers, long haulers, fire trucks, and more.
Most Sterlings come complete with an 18-speed road ranger gearbox, and a Detroit S60 14 litre engine. Automatic transmissions are also available. Ford Sterlings bring a robust combination of toughness and versatility to any job. They make perfect construction site workhorses, easily adaptable to the job that you need to get done.
Trader
One of the most popular Ford work trucks produced for the Australian and European market was the handy and versatile Ford Trader. Many of these trucks available on the Australian pre-owned market are a combination project of Ford Motor Company and Mazda.
These trucks emphasised fuel efficiency, performance, and versatility in a variety of potential jobs. Though smaller than the Louisville/ L 9000 and Sterling lines, the Trader operated well in urban and construction environments. Often used as a flatbed transport truck, it navigates city streets with ease. It also served well as a waste haulage truck or even for fire, ambulance, and other first response equipment.
